SPBTS families purchase Christmas gifts for families in need during the Christmas and Advent season. A Christmas Tree is put up in the Christopher Lobby, and the available names are hung on paper ornaments. The names are provided by Episcopal Children Services.
Habitat is a “hand up, not a hand out” to families who have jobs and cannot afford basic housing. Families are required to put in 300 hours of “sweat equity” and pay off a modest loan to own the house and have affordable housing. During our builds, we participate and “walk our walk” with other churches, individuals and groups at the beach. It’s a wonderful way to stay connected in our community. Building experience is not required and we encourage youth and teens (16 years and older) to participate.
Cursillo teaches a method how you might move toward living a more authentic Christian lifestyle. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, Cursillo will help keep you moving forward. Cursillo is a short course on Christianity. There are separate men’s and women’s weekends and a co-ed weekend. If you want to become closer to God, and experience Jesus as a brother and friend, develop real relationships with your community, and put some of the puzzle pieces together about this thing called Christianity, you will benefit and enjoy the Cursillo experience.
