Conversations That Matter

Sundays at 9am, Stormes Hall Common Room

Conversations That Matter is a Sunday morning discussion group (September through May) led by various guests and parishioners of St. Paul’s by-the-Sea. The goal of the class is to gain a better understanding of issues and how they involve us as parishioners at St. Paul’s by-the-Sea. We welcome and encourage you to share any suggestions or ideas for future Conversations.

Upcoming Topics of Conversations That Matter
January 8, 15, and 22.  How much do you know about our prayer book? Rev. Louanne begins a 3-week series:  A Gallop Through the Book of Common Prayer. This is a great opportunity for newcomers and anyone interested in confirmation or reception.

February 5 & 12: Race Relations-Here and Now, facilitated by Rev. Loch, Tom Farmer, and Jim Stuck.  We’ll start by looking at the inherent elements of an Anglo-Saxon Christian society that pose barriers to true equality, and then move to what we at SPBTS must do to address the very serious issue of racial inequality.  All points of view are welcome; come and share yours.

Feb 19: No meeting due to Annual Parish Meeting

Feb 26-April 2: What Wondrous Love – Holy Week in Word and Art. During Lent, we will experience the beautiful artwork by John August Swanson via this DVD series. The series present the powerful story of Holy Week as told in the four gospels. Each passage of scripture is illustrated by Mr. Swanson’s stunning artwork. With the beauty and powers of art and sacred text, these presentations will act as a catalyst of our journeys of faith during the coming season of Lent. Many of us were moved by this artist’s portrayal of scripture during Advent 2015. Please join us for this moving series.
